Serendipity

Merriam-Webster defines "serendipity" as the phenomenon of finding something valuable without seeking it.

Chances are, if you are not looking for it, some of us are quite oblivious to the treasures we have stumbled across. Human nature as it is, always looks far out to the horizon or is convinced that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Only on rare occasions do we look down to realise where we are exactly standing, to actually know what we hold in our hands and to finally see who stands by us silently.

We spend agonizing moments wishing things were different, hoping for a dream to come true and longing for Lady Luck to smile on us finally. Lucky are those who recognise serendipity at play in their lives. It can be something as simple as two ships passing in the night whose engines roar with the same rhythm; two individuals locked as one in a momentary union of time and space or a decision made in the face of desperation and out of the ashes a new kind of life is born purely on a wing and a prayer.

However serendipity decides to play its a sign that sometimes destiny can be a complex web of life energies that intertwine. So that one day at the right time and place, a miracle is born. It doesn't matter how long it lasts or the obstacles that you suddenly face.

All that matters is that you were touched by serendipity. Look into your lives, the person who holds your heart in theirs, the great career you have, the child who has your eyes, how can you not say it was not Serendipity?
